Rising stars of the London nu-gypsy scene.
This six piece band, featuring violin/vocals from the charismatic Mr. Chancery Blame, mindblowing clarinet and sax from Dave ‘shlepp’ Shulman, plus an absurdly talented band of guitar, accordion, double bass and drums, are a fiendishly crazed experience not to be missed. Taking as their starting point the traditional gypsy music of Hungary, Romania, and the Balkans, with some klezmer added for good measure, they give it a gritty London edge, with elements of rock, gypsy punk, vaudeville and even break beats, creating a sound both unique and yet steeped in the glorious musical traditions of Gypsies from all over Eastern Europe. Heartwrenching, surreal but always up for a party!
Firm favourites at club nights such as Le Vagabond Boogaloo and Stranger than Paradise, they are equally at home playing at festivals and in more intimate settings, such as London’s premier gypsy jazz venue Le Quecumbar, where they recently made their triumphant return.
